Our collective work to refine and refresh the all-important writer's eye will be primarily guided exercises in character development, point of view, and narrative strategy useful for poets and prose writers alike. Short readings will be distributed to help spark ideas and demonstrate techniques, and students will be asked to share some of their in-class work at the end of each session. The final meeting will offer ideas about how and where to develop your writing further. Please bring a notebook and a pen you love.

Monica Jacobe

Discussions will center on these writing products, some sample readings, and the struggles we all face in assembling narrative fragments and disparate voices into stories and essays that move readers. The final meeting will focus on developing your writing and finding more outlets for your creative spirit. Writers with some experience writing prose, who want to switch to narrative, or who are staring down at fragments with frustration will benefit from the work of this short course.
