Now Registering for Fall Arts Classes

Capitol Hill Arts Workshop Now Registering Students of All
Ages for Over Seventy-Five Fall Arts Classes

August 15, 2005 - The Capitol Hill Arts Workshop is now registering students of all ages for classes in the visual and performing arts beginning September 6, 2005. The Arts Workshop is offering more than seventy-five arts classes this fall and features an expanded early childhood schedule and a new drop-in policy for adult fitness and dance classes.

“The fall faculty is very exciting! Area teaching artists like Gina Clapp, Roberta Rothstein, Carolina Mayorga, Kathy Detwiler, Bruce McKaig, Twylene Moyer, Ellen Cornett, Karen Currie, Kristen Wesley, and Brian Costner are just a few of the teachers who are back for the fall. We are also joined by voice teacher Dan Adams, Kindermusik teacher Rachel Young, and early childhood educator Anne Craner. We are privileged to offer these amazing educators teaching a mix of favorite classes and exciting new ones,” said Jonathan Darr, Executive Director.

“We've been listening to the community and are doubling the number of Early Childhood classes we offer while expanding further into glass, textiles, and even contemporary installation work.”

Adult students can choose from popular favorites like Photography, Introduction to Drawing, Life Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, Yoga, Pilates, Hip-Hop Dance, Knitting, and more. New this year, the Arts Workshop will feature a drop-in program for its dance and fitness classes. Students can also participate in workshops including Collage and Mixed Media Art with local artist Karen Currie and Fused Glass with instructor Brian Costner.

The Youth Arts Program brings back tried-and-true courses like Ballet, Pottery, Art History, Music Exploration and Tumbling and adds exciting courses in New Trends in Visual Arts and Exploring Sculpture. Dance Performance, the Capitol Hill Youth Chorus, and the Jazz/Hip-Hop Nutcracker will offer students exciting opportunities to perform in front of an audience.

Students ages zero to five years old can participate in an expanded Early Childhood program, including classes in Kindermusik, Music and Movement, Music & Rhythm, Pre-Ballet and Creative Movement, Storytelling, Art and Tumbling.

As always, the Arts Workshop employs a talented staff of private music instructors offering lessons in voice, piano, violin, guitar and more!
